
Tradescantia
The Tradescantia originates from South America and is a member of the Commelinaceae (Commelina family). More than sixty different varieties are known of this family. The Tradescantia Spathacea (Rhoeo) is quite special because of the red colouring underneath the leaves. The colour is easily discernible because of the angle of the leaves. The ideal temperature for this plant is 16º C all year round. Do not let the temperature drop below 8º C. This Tradescantia prefers a shady spot. Try to avoid draughts. Keep the plant slightly moist and avoid dehydration of the pot ball. Give the plant fertiliser once every fortnight during the months of May to September, and once a month during the months of October to April.The best tips for caring for your plant:

- Long lasting.
- Good light, but no bright sunlight.
- Ideal temperature 12-21 ºC.
